Pressure washing questions, answered plainly
Grouped by what you're trying to figure out. If yours isn't here, call and ask.

Booking and pricing
Are estimates really free?
Yes. Most are done from photos and a description; bigger jobs get a walk-around first. Either way there's no charge to find out the price.
Do I need to be home during the wash?
Usually not. Leave the gates unlocked, the outside spigots on and the cars out of the way. You'll get photos when it's done.
How far ahead do I need to book?
In spring and early summer, a week or two is typical. Fall and winter are usually quicker. Tell us if there's a deadline.
What happens if it rains?
Light rain doesn't stop most washing, but storms and lightning do. Rescheduling for weather costs you nothing.
How do I pay?
On completion, by card, check or bank transfer. Details are on paying for the job.
The work itself
Will you use high pressure on my siding?
No. Siding, shingles, stucco and painted wood get a soft wash: a cleaning solution and a low-pressure rinse.
Is the cleaning solution safe for my yard?
It's diluted and rinsed. Plants are soaked with plain water before and after so they don't absorb it, and anything touching the wall is covered.
Do you need my water?
Usually, yes, from an outside spigot. A typical house wash uses less water than you might expect. If there's no working spigot, tell us in advance.
Can you get oil stains out of the driveway?
Fresh ones lighten a lot with a degreaser. Old stains soaked in for years usually lighten but may not disappear.
Do you clean windows?
They get rinsed during a house wash. Detailed, streak-free window cleaning is a separate trade.
Rules and paperwork
Does Tennessee license pressure washing?
No. There's no state trade licence for it. Businesses need a county business licence and state business tax registration. Insurance is not a state requirement for this trade, but commercial clients expect it, and homeowners should ask for proof.
Where does the wash water go?
Not into the storm drain. Knox County's stormwater rules prohibit non-stormwater discharges, so drains are blocked or water is directed onto the lawn or captured on commercial jobs.
Can you wash my neighbor's side of the fence?
Only with your neighbor's permission, since it means going onto their property.
Do you work for HOAs and property managers?
Yes. Common areas, entrances, pool decks and multiple homes in a neighborhood can be scheduled together.
